I was so surprised when I got a call from my daughter saying that one of her friends that bought my book wanted to meet me in North Carolina!! I live in Georgia. So I hop on a plan and we met at IHOP and had a wonderful brunch. I got to meet one of my fans and was tickled pink!! She was so excited to meet me. And wanted a sequel! Told her part two was coming out soon! It was fun!! Except I forgot to get a picture!! I had to go to the airport and didn’t have much time. But it was amazing to meet one of my “fans”!!! Thank you Carolyn, wonderful to meet you!! Hope I can meet more of you!!

We met the author in Beaufort NC at the annual Pirate Festival and bought the book for my 8 year old daughter.
She instantly fell in love with the book and character and now is asking for more books by Ms Helm.
I am so happy! Lots and lots of good comments and several 5-Star reviews have been happening! People are still asking for autographed copies of the book! I am just so excited that people are enjoying the story.
That was my intention all along. Sarafina and the Pirate’s Spyglass has been a joy for me to write since the beginning. I could see this young girl on many adventures and my deep interest in Pirates made a good combination.
Plus, I also go to Pirate Festivals all over, dressed in authentic pirate attire to entertain and educate the crowd.
I hope to find Sarafina and the Pirate’s Spyglass on many bookshelves in lots of stores soon! It’s already made it to two in Beaufort, North Carolina and I’m going to work hard to see it in more stores across the U.S. Thanks to everyone for your support.
I did it! My little hands were getting sore from writing so many autographs, but I loved every minute of it! I even did a story reading out of my book and the kids actually stayed and were intrigued. It was all so exciting to me, a little nervous at first, but then I had fun with it! It was done at the Beaufort Pirate Invasion in North Carolina inside the little gift shop. The ladies that worked there said that I sold the most books that had ever been sold in a book signing there. The Old Beaufort Shop now carries my book in their gift shop. And to top it off, I had another store that also wants to sell my books, called the Scuttlebuck in Beaufort, North Carolina. Now I can’t wait for Book TWO! The second book in the Sarafina series should be out early in 2016.
It’s a long way from Georgia to Massachusetts by car, but I love my life. You see, I reenact historical episodes, my favorite being pirates. The drive from event to event gives a lot of time for thought, introspection, and playing those fun license plate travel games.
I also get to travel with the one I love. Together we entertain and educate about pirates and the life at sea.
Do you remember when you were a child and you decided what you wanted to be with only one criteria in mind? It was about pure FUN, and that’s how I see my life.
So as we make our way up and down the east coast of the United States, I get more inspiration for the Sarafina series of books I’m writing. Be sure to enjoy the first one, Sarafina and the Pirate’s Spyglass. I can’t wait to share the next part of her adventures in 2016.
